Self Help according to M.P. Vasimalai, executive director of DHAN Foundation

I interviewed Vasimalai, the executive director of the DHAN 

Foundation, on DHAN's Kalanjiam system. The Kalanjiams 

are "people institutions" or self help groups for microfinance.

Here he describes how DHAN has set up these self help 

groups to become self sufficient and self funding after a 

number of years, explaining that "banking for the poor is

viable," and that poor people can organize to claim their 

rights.
