A scene from this week:
The white cow - a street cow - eats a plastic bag, while the black cow - an owned cow - eats leftover banana leaves.
Banana leaves are commonly used as packaging for street food in Madurai. For example, one might go to a fried chicken vendor, hypothetically, and that fried chicken vendor might wrap the fried chicken in a newspaper, and then in a banana leaf and tie the "to go" package with twine.
But increasingly, many of these places are - for the sake of expediency - switching from banana leaves to plastic bags. So the street cows have to do the same.
Your order is a little off here.... First, the fried chicken guy puts the chicken in the leaf, then he puts it in the newspaper. And somehow, the two of these things together also seem to provide pretty effective insulation.
